Macelleria Abbinante
Macelleria Abbinante it's a custom commercial interiors which dialogues with a long history: that of an ancient poultry and butcher shop active since 1949, told today through wood, stone and light.
The entire store has been redesigned as a small meat theater: exposed oak paneling, wood-paneled sales counters, rounded shelving, and aging cells integrated into the wall like works of art.
A project in which the artisanal tradition of cabinetmaking meets that of the neighborhood workshop, to give customers an experience that is both contemporary and familiar.
Oak as the voice of tradition
The entire composition is built around a single, prominent wood: knotty oak, left exposed in all its natural beauty. The broad grain, knots, and small natural imperfections have been carefully selected and not masked, because they speak the language of an ancient workshop.
The main wainscoting covers the wall behind the sales counter with large vertical panels that act as a dramatic backdrop for the aging cells. The sales counters are clad in carefully placed oak slats, while the rounded side shelves—almost a tribute to old-fashioned shops—display gourmet products like small books on a shelf.
It is in this material choice that custom-made commercial furniture reveals its nature: not a standard setup, but a true brand identity built in the carpentry shop.
The stone, the light, the mise en scène
The gray natural stone floor and walls—with pebble inserts embedded in the matrix—provide a neutral counterpoint to the warmth of the oak. It's a carefully considered dialogue: the stone conveys the idea of ancient solidity, the wood the warmth of a handcrafted craft.
Above the main counter, a large circular light integrated into the false ceiling illuminates the store like a stage, while adjustable spotlights on a black track illuminate the products on display. A subtle LED light beneath the display counter visually warms the meat on display, enhancing its color.
The maturation cells—set into the paneling with chrome frames like ship's portholes—become an integral part of the display: the raw materials are displayed as they mature, and already become a story.
Function, duration, identity of the shop
Each element is designed to withstand the daily work of a butcher shop: the oak is treated with protective and water-repellent finishes, the stainless steel contact surfaces are sized for real-life use, the shelving is designed to accommodate different products and change layout over time.
The business's historic logo—a small wooden rooster inlaid with the words "Antica Polleria Macelleria Abbinante, dal 1949"—is embedded in the main shelving like a small internal sign, a declaration of roots and continuity.
Macelleria Abbinante It is the demonstration of what a really means custom commercial interiors Designed by Coletta Ebanisteria: not just to dress a shop, but to create an identity that will remain recognizable for years to come, with the same care we've put into every residential project since 1971.
