Integrated sockets and cable glands: the technology you can't see
Every home today has more devices to power than available outlets. In a bespoke furniture the problem is solved at the source: the sockets are integrated into the cabinet, and the cables run inside instead of along the wall.
The problem of exposed cables
It's not just aesthetics. A cable hanging from a worktop gets tangled, gets dirty, and limits the usability of the space. In fitted walls, the tangle behind the TV is the first thing you see when you move the cabinet.
Concealed sockets in the top
They open with a push of a button, remain flush with the countertop when closed, and disappear completely when finished. On a kitchen island or desk, they're the cleanest solution because they don't require drilling into the nearest wall.
Cable ducts in the doors and sides
A well-placed cable outlet allows you to power an appliance while keeping it inside the cabinet. Aligned with the handles and finished in the same color, it becomes part of the design rather than looking like an afterthought.
Where to expect them in the kitchen
There are three useful locations: on the island for small appliances, in a dedicated column for those that remain constantly connected, and in a drawer equipped for charging phones and tablets away from the worktops. In compact kitchens the charging drawer frees up a lot of space.
In the living room and behind the television
The technical compartment behind the television area must be planned during the design phase: sufficient depth for the appliances, ventilation, and a bottom that can be opened for maintenance. In a fitted wall It is the part that decides whether the result will be sorted or not.
The desk and study at home
Working from home means your workstation requires more power than a kitchen. A cable channel under the counter, a hidden outlet, and a rear cable management system are all you need to keep the surface clear. In custom-made desks we always predict it.
Wireless charging on the floor
It's a growing request: a surface area that charges your phone, completely out of sight. This must be decided before the surface is machined, as it requires milling on the back and a dedicated power supply.
Decide first, not later
All these solutions cost little if included in the design and a lot if added to the finished piece of furniture. This is why, during the survey, we always ask where the appliances will be used: the answer changes the design.
