Paneled TV Walls: Technical Design and Hidden Details

The TV walls in wood paneling They're one of the most requested custom projects in recent years. They seem simple (a television, a wooden wall), but in reality they require precise technical design to function well for decades.

Resize the wall to the TV

Before even designing the boiserie, you need to know which TV will be installed and how far away you will sit. Rule of thumb: viewing distance = 1.5-2.5 × TV diagonal. For a 65″ TV (165 cm diagonal), the ideal distance is 2.5-4 meters. The TV is horizontally centered on the wall and positioned at a height such that the center of the screen is at eye level when seated (110-120 cm from the floor).

The technical room

Behind the TV you need a technical compartment for: power supply, antenna, HDMI, any decoders, soundbars, smart home devices. We always make it as full blind drawer 20-30 cm deep behind the paneling, with side or front access via a hidden door. All cables are hidden.

Cable management

The cables that reach the TV (power, HDMI from the decoder, audio cables for the soundbar) must pass through the paneling without being visible. internal grooves on the panel behind the TV, with outputs calculated for each cable. We always add 2-3 more steps than necessary: future upgrades.

Vertical slats or solid panels?

The vertical slats give architectural rhythm (as in the Acanto Project): the TV is set between the slats, the effect is spectacular. full panels With decorative grooves (frames, panels) they have a more classic aesthetic. The choice depends on the style of the home.

Typical materials

The most requested TV paneling: walnuts (warm, material, slightly formal), oak (clearer and more contemporary), matt lacquer In dark colors (gallery effect) or light colors (lightness effect). Stay away from transparencies: the TV reflects too much if there is a mirrored surface around it.

Integrated soundbar and woofer

If a soundbar, we integrate it into the suspended cabinet under the TV or in a dedicated niche. For the subwoofer, We hide it in a wall compartment with frontal acoustic grilles: sound comes out, furniture is invisible. The TV wall becomes a small architectural sound system.

Accent lighting

A LED strip Behind the TV panel (backlighting effect) reduces eye strain during evening viewing and adds depth to the wall. Hidden LEDs in the slats create a play of vertical light. Everything can be controlled by remote control or home automation.

Why a custom TV wall?

A pre-packaged TV wall costs less, but it doesn't solve the real problems: visible cables, aging devices, imperfect dimensions. A custom TV wall It is created around the customer and lasts as long as the house.
