Custom kitchen lighting: spotlights, pendants, integrated LEDs
THE'’kitchen lighting It's often considered too late in projects: after the furniture, after the materials. But in the kitchen, light is essential: you work with knives, evaluate cooking methods, and serve dishes. A poorly lit kitchen quickly becomes frustrating.
Three essential light levels
A well-lit kitchen always has three levels: general light (spotlights or ceiling light, illuminates the entire room), functional light on the worktops (under-cabinet LEDs, illuminate where you cut and cook), mood light (hanging lamps on the island or on the table, decorative and welcoming).
Under-cabinet LED: non-optional detail
I Under-cabinet LED They are the quintessential functional light in the kitchen: the cabinet casts a shadow over the worktop below, and without dedicated lighting, you'd be working in the dark. They can be LED strips for diffused light, spot spotlights, or recessed profiles. Temperature ranges from 3000-4000K (neutral-warm), and they can be switched on by touch or motion sensor.
Suspensions on the island
The suspensions The most dramatic element above the island is the one above. Basic rules: height 75-80 cm above the worktop (for headroom, but not for gestures), one large pendant (60-80 cm) or 2-3 small ones in a row, warm light (2700-3000K) for atmosphere or neutral (3500-4000K) if you're working a lot on the island.
Ceiling spotlights
I spotlights Adjustable recessed spotlights provide general lighting and can be optimized: point the spotlights near the wall units toward the doors to illuminate the kitchen front, and the central spotlights toward the floor for diffused lighting. Typical distance between spotlights: 80-100 cm.
LED strips in detail
We can custom integrate LED strips in many details: in the skirting board of furniture (night light), in the top exposed (illuminates the floor below), inside the hood (in addition to the standard lights), in the open wall units (Illuminates what we expose.) The sum of these details is enormous.
Control unit and home automation
A modern custom kitchen has the light control unit Integrated: complete scenarios are activated with a single command (work mode, dinner mode, night mode). Dim all main lights. If your home has home automation, we integrate directly.
Most common mistake
The most common mistake in the kitchen is a single ceiling light in the center, which leaves all the countertops in the shade. A mere €200 in under-cabinet LED lighting can radically transform the usability of your kitchen. It's the most cost-effective investment possible.
