Home bar corner: custom solutions
THE'’bar corner It has returned to being a recurring request, but in a different form than in the 1970s: no longer a piece of furniture in itself, but rather a portion of an equipped wall that opens when needed and disappears when not.
Integrated or concealed
Two opposing setups. The built-in bar remains visible, with bottles and glasses as a decorative element. The concealed one hides behind flush or tilting doors, and when closed, the wall becomes continuous. The choice depends on how much the room tolerates clutter.
Where to place it
There are three most effective locations: in the living room near the conversation area, at the entrance to the dining room, or in a passageway like a large hallway. A reachable electrical outlet and a wall at least as deep as a lying bottle are essential.
The refrigerated wine cellar
This is the most requested feature and must be planned during the design phase, as it requires rear ventilation and a dedicated power supply. Built into the cabinet and aligned with the doors, it disappears into the overall design rather than appearing as a freestanding appliance.
Glasses, bottles and what you really need
A good bar counter includes a work surface, a vertical rack for glasses, a flat space for bottles, and a drawer for accessories. These are four distinct functions, and each requires its own depth. This is why customization is so important here.
Interior light
Lighting completely transforms the effect. A light strip under the top shelf illuminates the glass and the cabinet's bottom, and in the evening, the bar becomes the room's focal point. Integrated lighting It must be wired before installation.
Materials and funds
Contrast works: warm wood on the outside and a dark background on the inside, or vice versa. A mirrored background visually doubles the bottles and is a classic solution when space is limited. The countertop should be washable and stain-resistant.
When it's part of the living room
In most of our projects the bar corner is not an isolated piece of furniture but a chapter of the fitted wall. Same door design, same wood type, same joint height: it only stands out when opened.
A detail that changes the use of the room
Those who have a wet bar at home stop setting up the trolley and going to the kitchen to fetch glasses. It's a small shift in habits that makes the stay more independent, and it's the reason those who do it rarely go back.
