Cedar
Cedar it's a custom entryway Vertical and dramatic, built around the rhythm of the slats. A continuous dark oak paneling adorns the back wall, while a vertically slatted partition separates the entrance from the living area and welcomes those entering with a built-in shelf: a small gesture of welcome.
In the background, a matte black bar corner—with an open wine cellar and suspended wine glass holder—gives the room a theatrical touch, highlighted by two dove-grey shelves with a wavy profile that outline the wall like a small sculpture.
The rhythm of the slats, the identity of the room
The entire composition is born from dark oak, hand-stained in our workshop in Bari: vertical slats milled one by one, sanded, aligned with regular shutters, which completely cover the entrance wall and continue into the partition.
It's a custom entryway which doesn't just furnish a hallway, but transforms it into a real room: the wood material envelops, redraws the boundaries and introduces a residential warmth that smooth plasterboard could never have reproduced.
The divider, threshold and furniture together
On the front door side, a partition of vertical slats suspended from the floor divides without closing: it lets light in, shields the view from the living room, and gracefully defines the entrance area. A matte black shelf runs horizontally across it, providing a place for keys and small items—a functional detail that becomes a signature style.
The partition is made entirely of shaped solid wood, custom-built to the proportions of the room: no modular solution would have achieved the same proportion between solids and voids.
The bar corner, a scenographic gesture
At the heart of the wall, the bar corner is the most narrative element of the project: a matte black wine cellar with slanted bottle holders, topped by a suspended wine glass holder with glasses upside down like tiny crystal pendulums. Above, two dove-grey lacquered wave-shaped shelves run along the wainscoting, creating a small personal gallery for books, photographs, and personal objects.
A ladder of wooden shelves completes the dialogue on the left side: everything is sewn onto the house, onto the proportions of the wall, onto the light coming from the living room. It is in this orchestration that the tailor-made entrance reveals its nature: not an added piece of furniture, but a room conceived as an entire piece of furniture.
Craftsmanship, proportion, care
The slats are handcrafted and finished with a natural oil that protects without covering the material. The dove-grey shelves are given a matte lacquer finish in our paint booth, sanded between coats to a silky smooth finish. The black finishes—the bar and the divider shelf—are treated with a stone-effect varnish, giving them a textured feel.
Cedar It is the demonstration of what a really means custom entryway signed by Coletta Ebanisteria: a threshold that is already a domestic theater, handcrafted since 1971 with the same care as a main piece of furniture.
